Description: THE PROJECT CONCERNS RESEARCH AND STUDIES ON: A) THE DETERMINATION OF OPTIMAL WELDING CONDITIONS (BUTT & LAP JOINTS) FSW IN AI 2099 AND 2060 ALLOY SPECIMENS MATERIALS THAT WILL BE PROVIDED BY HELLENIC AEROSPACE INDUSTRY S.A., B) METALLOGRAPHIC EVALUATION OF WELDS WITH OPTICAL MICROSCOPY, SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY AND MICROHARDNESS, C) DETERMINATION OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF WELDS (PULL-OUT STATIC TESTS, CRACK PROPAGATION TESTS) WHICH WILL BE PERFORMED UNDER THE OPTIMAL CONDITIONS SPECIFIED IN STEPS (1.1) AND (1.2). THE FINAL REPORT (DELIVERABLE) INCLUDES THE DETERMINATION OF OPTIMAL WELDING CONDITIONS AS WELL AS THE TEST RESULTS.
