Description: | DURING THE PROJECT THE HYDRODYNAMIC LUBRICATION BETWEEN THE SLIDING SURFACES OF THE LESS MECHANISM WILL BE INVESTIGATED. THE MINIMUM LUBRICANT THICKNESS WILL BE CALCULATED, THE BOUNDARY OR MIXED LUBRICATION AREAS WILL BE DETERMINED, THE COEFFICIENT OF FRICTION AT EACH POINT OF CONTACT WILL BE CALCULATED AND THE TOTAL ENERGY LOSSES WILL BE DETERMINED. THE ABOVE ANALYSIS WILL BE PERFORMED FOR DIFFERENT TYPES AND CHARACTERISTICS OF LUBRICANTS IN ORDER TO SELECT THE BEST ONE FOR THE APPLICATION. THE LUBRICATION SYSTEM WILL THEN BE OPTIMIZED (FOR ONE VERSION OF THE LESS MECHANISM). THE OPTIMIZATION WILL INCLUDE THE SELECTION OF THE MOST SUITABLE PROFILE OF THE FRICTION SURFACES, THE DESIGN OF THE MOST SUITABLE LUBRICATION METHOD, AS WELL AS THE SELECTION OF THE MOST SUITABLE MATERIALS AND (IF NECESSARY) COATINGS TO REDUCE FRICTION. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE OPTIMIZATION WILL BE TO DETERMINE THE LUBRICATION SYSTEM THAT WILL REDUCE FRICTION LOSSES AND WILL HAVE THE LOWEST POSSIBLE MANUFACTURING AND MAINTENANCE COSTS. |
