Description: THE RESEARCH PROJECT INCLUDES COMPUTATIONAL AND EXPERIMENTAL WORK THAT WILL BE CARRIED OUT IN THE NTUA RC LABORATORY AND IN THE FIELD, ON REINFORCED CONCRETE (RC) SPECIMENS AND STRUCTURES THAT ARE AND/OR WILL BE EXPOSED TO AGGRESSIVE MARINE CHLORIDE ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS (CATEGORIES XS2 AND XS3 PER EN206); THESE ARE EITHER EXISTING OVER A 5-YEAR TIME SPAN AND/OR WILL BE CONSTRUCTED FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT IN THE FIELD AND IN THE LABORATORY. THE PROJECT WORKS AIM TOWARDS: J) THE DETERMINATION AND, AT THE SAME TIME, THE CALIBRATION OF THE EXPOSURE AND RESISTANCE TO EXPOSURE REQUIREMENTS OF THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE GREEK CONCRETE TECHNOLOGY CODE (KTS2016), THE NA ΕΝ206 AND THE DRAFT EC2( FPREN1992-1-1) , II) THE NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF THE DESIGN PARAMETERS FOR STRENGTH AND DURABILITY AND, BY EXTENSION, THE INVESTIGATION OF THE BEHAVIOR OF FLOATING RC STRUCTURES OF CAISSON-TYPE, AND III) THE DEVELOPMENT OF CONSTRUCTION AND REPAIR SPECIFICATIONS IN GENERAL FOR SUCH TYPE OF FLOATING STRUCTURES. AS AN APPLICATION OF THE ABOVE, EXISTING AND NEW CAISSONS WILL BE SELECTED IN THE SOUTHERN EXTENSION OF THE PIRAEUS PASSENGER PORT AND OTHER FLOATING RC STRUCTURES.
