Description: THE PROJECT AIMS TO LEVERAGE MEDIUM AND HIGH-RESOLUTION SATELLITE DATA FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A METHODOLOGY TO ESTIMATE TOURISM CARRYING CAPACITY AND DEVELOPMENT INDICATORS. USING STATE-OF-THE-ART ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TECHNIQUES, LAND USE MAPPING WILL BE PERFORMED, ALONGSIDE THE IDENTIFICATION OF KEY TOURISM INFRASTRUCTURES AND THE ANALYSIS OF THEIR SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION IN RELATION TO ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC PARAMETERS.
PARTICULAR FOCUS WILL BE PLACED ON THE CREATION OF TRAINING DATASETS FOR MACHINE LEARNING MODELS, AS WELL AS ON THE VERIFICATION AND VALIDATION OF RESULTS THROUGH THE INTEGRATION OF REMOTE SENSING AND IN-SITU DATA. THE PRODUCED SPATIAL ANALYTICS WILL SUPPORT THE DESIGN OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES BASED ON QUANTITATIVE INDICATORS.
