| Description: | THE PROJECT AIMS TO CONTINUE AND EXPAND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES RELATED TO THE UNCERTAINTIES OF EXTREME HYDRODIMATIC EVENTS USING REMOTE SENSING DATA. THE WORK WILL INCLUDE BOTH STATISTICAL LEARNING TECHNIQUES AND BAYESIAN MODELING METHODS (FOR UNCERTAINTY QUANTIFICATION), AS WELL AS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE METHODS FOR COMBINING MULTIPLE PRECIPITATION PRODUCTS (E.G., SATELLITE DATA, ESTIMATES BASED ON SOIL MOISTURE). ADDITIONALLY, THE EXISTING EXTRAIM PLATFORM (DEVELOPED AS PART OF THE INITIAL PROGRAM) WILL BE EXPANDED AND UPGRADED TO MANAGE AND VISUALIZE DATA AND TO COMMUNICATE RISKS ARISING FROM INDIVIDUAL AND COMPOUND EXTREME HYDRODIMATIC EVENTS. AT THE SAME TIME, THE PROGRAM WILL AIM TO DESIGN AND SUBMIT NEW RESEARCH PROPOSALS (IN COLLABORATION WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS FROM GREECE AND THE ED), DISSEMINATE RESEARCH WORK AND RESULTS, AND DEVELOP PROMOTIONAL AUDIOVISUAL MATERIAL FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES. |
