| Description: | IN THE DYNAMIC LANDSCAPE OF OPERATIONS, LOGISTICAL SUPPORT TO COMBAT UNITS REMAINS A PERSISTENT CHALLENGE, WITH WATER EMERGING AS A RESOURCE-INTENSIVE ASSET, CRITICAL FOR DIVERSE NEEDS (E.G., CONSUMPTION, HYGIENE, EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE). TRADITIONAL APPROACHES IN FIELD WATER MANAGEMENT EMPLOY LINEAR, SINGLE-USE MODELS THAT LACK EFFICIENT AND RELIABLE PROCEDURES AND TECHNOLOGIES FOR ALTERNATIVE SOURCING AND RECYCLING, THUS IMPOSING SIGNIFICANT OPERATIONAL AND LOGISTICAL CONSTRAINTS. SWIFT OFFERS A DISRUPTIVE APPROACH TO WATER MANAGEMENT THROUGH TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS FOR MODULAR FIELD CAMPS WITHIN EXPEDITIONARY AND EUROPEAN DEFENCE CONTEXTS. SPECIFICALLY, THE PROJECT WILL CONCENTRATE ON EXPLORING THE POTENTIAL OF EMERGING WATER REUSE CONCEPTS AND TECHNOLOGIES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT RESTRICTED TO, GRAPHENE-BASED TREATMENT TECHNOLOGIES AND ADVANCED PHOTOCATALYTIC PROCESSES, TO PROVIDE CLEAN AND SAFE WATER IN VARIOUS (OFTEN HARSH) OPERATIONAL ENVIRONMENTS. THE PROJECT ALSO ADDRESSES THE ISSUE OF ENERGY DEMANDS FOR THESE NOVEL TECHNOLOGIES, IDENTIFYING OPPORTUNITIES TO OPTIMALLY COUPLE WATER AND ENERGY SYSTEMS, ENABLING DEMAND SIDE MANAGEMENT CAPABILITIES, THUS RESULTING TO INCREASED EFFICIENCY AND RESILIENCE FOR BOTH. SWIFT DIRECTLY CONFRONTS AND DEVELOPS INNOVATIONS FOR ADDITIONAL RELEVANT CHALLENGES, SUCH AS HEALTH RISK ASSESSMENT AND DISRUPTIVE SAFETY MONITORING FOR TROOPS THAT MAKE USE OF THE PROPOSED CIRCULAR WATER SYSTEMS, BY DEVELOPING NEW TOOLS TO MONITOR AND MANAGE HEALTH RISKS ORIGINATING FROM WATER REUSE AND EXTERNAL CONTAMINATION THREATS. SWIFT WILL DEVELOP AI BASED SMART INFRASTRUCTURE PLANNING AGENTS FOR THE DESIGN AND DIGITAL TWIN TECHNOLOGIES FOR OPERATING THE TREATMENT INNOVATIONS OF THE PROJECT, AIMING TO SIGNIFICANTLY BOOST THE ABILITY OF PLANNERS TO BETTER DESIGN, MONITOR AND CONTROL SAFE WATER SYSTEMS AND SERVICES UNDER A WIDE RANGE OF OPERATIONAL CONTEXTS AND CHALLENGES. |
