| Description: | THE SOLAR-MOVE PROJECT (SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC TO MOVE FOR SYSTEMS INTEGRATION) IS A HORIZON EUROPE INNOVATION ACTION THAT AIMS TO ACCELERATE THE ADOPTION OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES (EVS) WHILE REDUCING THEIR IMPACT ON THE POWER GRID. ITS CENTRAL APPROACH IS TO INTEGRATE VEHICLE INTEGRATED PHOTOVOLTAICS (VIPV) INTO MULTIPLE ECOSYSTEMS: CITIES, RESIDENTIAL AND SERVICE BUILDINGS, PASSENGER TRANSPORT, AND HIGHWAYS. THE PROJECT SETS THREE MAIN TARGETS: (I) EXTEND EV RANGE BY 5–10 KM/DAY THROUGH ONBOARD SOLAR GENERATION, (II) CUT GRID DEPENDENCY BY 20–50% DEPENDING ON THE ECOSYSTEM, AND (III) ENSURE SOLUTIONS DELIVER A POSITIVE NET PRESENT VALUE. TO ACHIEVE THESE, THE CONSORTIUM WILL DESIGN VIPV PROTOTYPES FOR DIVERSE USE CASES SUCH AS HEAVY-DUTY TRUCKS WITH PV TRAILERS, GARBAGE TRUCKS, BUSES, LAST-MILE DELIVERY VEHICLES, AND MOTORHOMES. IN PARALLEL, IT WILL DEPLOY ENHANCED PHOTOVOLTAIC-POWERED CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURES (EPIPVS) ACROSS CONTEXTS LIKE HIGHWAYS, MUNICIPALITIES, COMMERCIAL HUBS, AND PRIVATE FACILITIES. THE PROJECT INVOLVES 34 PARTNERS FROM 16 COUNTRIES AND WILL RUN DEMONSTRATIONS IN SIX PILOT SITES: DENMARK (HEAVY-DUTY VIPVS AND HIGHWAY EPIPV LOTS), GREECE (GARBAGE TRUCK AND MUNICIPAL EPIPV), TURKEY (PASSENGER BUS AND OPPORTUNITY CHARGING), PORTUGAL (LAST-MILE DELIVERY AND PUBLIC EPIPV), ALBANIA (PRIVATE EPIPV), AND SLOVENIA (MOTORHOME VIPV). BEYOND TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT, SOLAR-MOVE EMPHASIZES SCALABILITY, REPLICABILITY, INTEROPERABILITY, AND BUSINESS MODELS TO MAKE THESE SOLUTIONS MARKET-READY. ITS OUTCOMES WILL ALSO SUPPORT POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS, MUNICIPAL PROCUREMENT GUIDELINES, AND REGULATORY FRAMEWORKS TO STIMULATE MASS DEPLOYMENT OF SOLAR-INTEGRATED MOBILITY AND INFRASTRUCTURE ACROSS EUROPE. |
