Description: TOURISM HAS EMERGED AS ONE OF THE COUNTRY’S MOST IMPORTANT FINANCIAL SECTORS, DISPLAYING SIGNIFICANT GROWTH POTENTIAL EACH YEAR. FOR BETTER EXPLOITING THIS GROWTH AND FURTHER MAINTAINING THE OBSERVED GROWTH RATES, IT IS NECESSARY TO INTERCONNECT THE TOURISTIC PRODUCT/CONTENT WITH THE ACTUAL INTERESTS OF THE EXPECTED AND POTENTIAL TOURISTS. STREET-LINES PROJECT WILL FOCUS ON THIS NEED, AIMING TO DEVELOP A SYSTEM THAT WILL COLLECT INFORMATION FROM OPEN TOURISM-BASED PLATFORMS AND ONLINE SOCIAL NETWORKS USED BY THE VISITORS, AND IT WILL GENERATE IN AN AUTOMATED MANNER RECOMMENDATIONS FOR STRATEGIC PLANNING OF
CULTURAL EVENTS, DESIGNING PROPER SUPPORT OF THE EMERGING TOURIST DESTINATIONS, ETC.
STREET-LINES PROJECT ASPIRES TO DEVELOP AN INFORMATICS SYSTEM THAT WILL LEAD TO THE FORMATION OF A NEW “CREATIVE PRODUCT” IN TOURISM, WHERE THE PERSONNEL FROM INSTITUTIONS AND TOURISM SECTOR PROFESSIONALS WILL BE ABLE TO COLLECT PUBLICLY AVAILABLE INFORMATION REGARDING THE EXPECTED VISITORS AND THE TOURISTIC AND CULTURAL CONTENT, AND IN AN AUTOMATED MANNER OBTAIN RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE STRATEGIC PLANNING OF FURTHER ACTIONS, EVENTS AND SUPPORTIVE INTERVENTIONS FOR A MORE REASONABLE DISTRIBUTION OF TOURISTIC GROWTH. IT WILL ALSO ALLOW THE ATTRACTION OF MORE POSSIBLE VISITORS DURING THE TOURIST HIGH SEASON AND WILL INCREASE THE REPEATERS (RETURNING TOURISTS).
