Description: | THE PROJECT REFERS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF BASIC AND APPLIED RESEARCH FOR THE ALTERNATIVE MANAGEMENT OF BY-PRODUCTS FROM INDUSTRIAL AND AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES (WASTE FROM ENERGY PRODUCTION UNITS, STEEL SLAG, GLASS CULET, FARMING AND GREEN RESIDUES ETC.) FOR THE PRODUCTION OF NEW/SECONDARY PRODUCTS WITH HIGH ADDED VALUE. THE EXPLOITATION/UTILIZATION OF INDUSTRIAL AND OTHER BY-PRODUCTS BASED ON STATE-OF-THE-ART TECHNOLOGIES, THE PRINCIPLES OF GREEN CHEMISTRY AND ENGINEERING AS WELL AS THE PRIORITIES OF THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY, CONSTITUTES A SIGNIFICANT RESEARCH FIELD. THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT AND OPTIMIZATION OF METHODS AND TECHNIQUES, SECONDARY MATERIALS AND PRODUCTS WITH FOCUSED/SPECIFIC CHARACTERISTICS, ENERGY EFFICIENT AND COST EFFECTIVE CAN BE PRODUCED. IN PARALLEL, A SERIES OF ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS IS ACHIEVED SUCH AS THE MINIMIZATION OF WASTE DISPOSAL, THE SAVING OF RAW MATERIALS (NATURAL RESOURCES) AND ENERGY ETC. THE ACCUMULATED KNOWLEDGE OF THE INORGANIC AND ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY RESEARCH GROUP IN THE SPECIFIC FIELD WILL BE EXPLOITED AND EXPANDED FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PRESENT RESEARCH. |
